Mia Khalifa shared a social media post this week expressing rare praise for U.S. President Joe Biden.

On Friday, Biden shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, stating that “No one should be jailed for simply using or possessing marijuana.”

Khalifa, a Lebanese-American media personality and former adult-film star, responded to Biden’s post, saying, “Hate when a b**** I despise eats,” expressing support for Biden’s plan to recategorize marijuana federally to a Schedule 3 drug.

Earlier this week, the president announced plans by his administration to “to reclassify marijuana from a Schedule 1 drug to a Schedule 3 drug.”

“It’s an important move toward reversing long-standing inequities,” Biden said in a video posted on X. “Today’s announcement builds on the work we’ve already done to pardon a record number of federal offenses for simple possession of marijuana … no one should be in jail merely for using or possessing marijuana, period.”

As of 2024, marijuana has become legalized for recreational use in 24 states, with 38 permitting its use in medical contexts. In December 2022, the president moved to pardon all U.S. citizens who had been convicted of simple possession, attempted simple possession or use of marijuana.

Despite its legalization in some states, the drug remained classified by the federal government as a Schedule I substance—or drugs defined as having no accepted medical use or a high potential for abuse, along with other drugs like heroin, ecstasy and LSD.

In the past, Khalifa has been critical of Biden amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas militants. She fervently supports Palestinians and has had several social media posts discussing the war in recent months.

This geriatric f*** can’t ceasefire anything,” Khalifa wrote in response.

Shortly after the October 7 attack by Hamas militants on Israel, Khalifa faced a fury of criticism on social media when she called the militant group “freedom fighters.”

“Can someone please tell the freedom fighters in Palestine to flip their phones and film horizontal,” Khalifa wrote on X, responding to footage of the October 7 attack.

Following days of criticism over her post, Khalifa sought to clarify her comment in a follow-up statement, which said: “I just want to make it clear that this statement in no way shape or form is [inciting] spread of violence … I specifically said freedom fighters because that’s what the Palestinian citizens are … fighting for freedom every day.”
