Donald Trump Supporters Are Expecting Taylor Swift to Vote for Him

Nearly one-third of Donald Trump‘s supporters believe Taylor Swift will vote for the former president in November, according to a new poll.

Speculation about who Swift will support in the presidential election has grown as she has remained quiet about the race, though the Fortnight singer has historically supported President Joe Biden and progressive social causes such as LGBTQ+ rights.

A new poll, conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies on behalf of Newsweek, suggests a sizeable number of Trump supporters believe Swift will vote for him in November, though more still believe she will back Biden.

Thirty percent said they think she would vote for Trump, while 40 percent said they believe she will vote for Biden, according to the poll. Meanwhile, 64 percent of Biden voters believe Swift will vote for Biden and 16 percent believe she will support Trump.

People between the ages of 25 an 34 were most likely to believe Swift is a Trump supporter. Thirty-five percent said they believe she will support Trump, while another 35 percent said they think she is going to vote for Biden, according to the poll.

Biden voters are also more likely to be Swift fans, as 59 percent said they are either “absolutely” or “somewhat” a fan of Swift, while only 40 percent of Trump voters said they are a fan of Swift.

Sixty-one percent of Trump voters and 41 percent of Biden voters said they are not fans of Swift.

In an October 2020 interview with V Magazine, Swift said she was “proudly” voting for Biden in that year’s election because she believes the U.S. had a chance to “start the healing process it so desperately needs” under his leadership.

“The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included,” she said.

“Everyone deserves a government that takes global health risks seriously and puts the lives of its people first. The only way we can begin to make things better is to choose leaders who are willing to face these issues and find ways to work through them.”

Swift urged her fans to register to vote on March 5, 2024, also known as Super Tuesday in the presidential primaries, in a post to Instagram.

“I wanted to remind you guys to vote the people who most represent YOU into power. If you haven’t already, make a plan to vote today,” Swift wrote. “Whether you’re in Tennessee or somewhere else in the US, check your polling places and times at Vote.org.”

A Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll in January found that 48 percent of respondents believe Swift is a Democrat, while only 18 percent believe she is a Republican.
